Digital Sales Representative

Our State magazine is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to become our Digital Sales Representative. This fast paced and challenging full-time position is essential to our digital growth and to our goal of helping our clients diversify their marketing exposure and expand their results.

Your primary mission as a Digital Sales Representative with Our State magazine will be to prospect and sell our digital sponsorship opportunities to all categories of business.

Responsibilities include:

  • Familiarizing yourself with Our State’s unique product and sales process
  • Leveraging your previous experience in sales, preferably from a technology, media, or solution sales background, to hit the ground running and be successful from day one
  • Making a high volume of cold calls; actively researching websites, competitive media, and other sources for leads
  • Serving your clients after a sale and working with the marketing team on collateral, proposal email copy, and database management

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Above average drive and motivation
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Four-year college degree
  • 1 to 3 years of experience

Digital Marketing Coordinator

Our State magazine seeks a dynamic, self-motivated individual to serve as Digital Marketing Coordinator and a member of the creative team responsible for managing Our State magazine’s digital presence. In addition to writing, editing, and managing online and electronic communications, this position will work to increase Our State’s online presence through innovative advertising, special promotions, and online marketing campaigns. Administrative tasks include database management and materials tracking for numerous web initiatives.

This full-time position REQUIRES a four-year college degree, 1-3 years of traditional and/or online marketing experience, and strong writing experience. Effective writing, editing, and verbal communication skills are imperative, as is a comfort level with using social media. Flexibility and the ability to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines are fundamental.

Account Supervisor

Our State is looking for an enthusiastic and outgoing self-starter with at least 3 years of sales experience and a passion for North Carolina. Recent track record of media sales is a big plus, as are relationships within the North Carolina area.

Responsibilities will include prospecting, developing persuasive pitches, securing and managing new business, as well as meeting and exceeding sales quotas. Strong work ethic with exceptional written and verbal communication skills a must. Ability to work within a professional, team-oriented environment.

Student Internships

Editorial Internships

Our State offers internships during fall, spring, and summer semesters.

Internships positions are for 10 hours a week, unpaid, and offer opportunity for experience in several areas: research, proofing, writing, and editing. Interns also help with fact-checking, indexing, assembling copy for our website, and other general duties. Our State interns work closely with the editorial team and have the opportunity to produce portfolio-worthy clips.

We prefer students who are pursuing a degree in journalism or English. Experience working on a student or local publication is a huge plus.
