From our inaugural issue on June 3, 1933, to the 75th Anniversary issue in June 2008, Our State magazine has celebrated the many things that make North Carolina special. We’ve welcomed a new day at dawn along the Outer Banks and marked its passing at sunset over the Blue Ridge Parkway. We’ve enjoyed a glass of lemonade on the front porch and sampled down-home cooking far and wide. We’ve traveled interstates and dirt roads and along the way met artists, storytellers, farmers, scientists, and teachers whose daily contributions to North Carolina inspire us all. We’ve gone in search of the very essence of this great state, and at every turn we’ve found it.
