Birthday Wishes
Every time my wife and I come to North Carolina, it is like coming to a place like no other. From the beautiful mountains which my wife just loves to the coast of the Atlantic Ocean which I love, North Carolina has something for everyone. It is not just the beauty of the state but also the people who call it home. They always make us feel at home and like family. We are planning to move in about 3 to 5 years. We were born and raised here in Kentucky, but each year we find out where we really want to be. I thank each and every one of you for making us feel like family and I truly can't wait to call the Carolinas our home. I do feel there really might be a little bit of heaven here on earth. Happy Birthday and God Bless!

The things I enjoy most in Our State are: The TARHEEL PEOPLE because they are so creative, The TARHEEL TOWNS because reading about the them is almost like going there and The TARHEEL MEMORIES because so many of them are similar to my own memories of growing up here. I truly enjoy this magazine because it is like "getting a letter from home" every month. When I was out of state attending school, my Mother used to write a newsy letter to keep me informed about everything and everyone. That's how I feel about Our State. It keeps me informed about everything and everyone in NC which is my home.

I was born in 1950 in Lexington, North Carolina and lived there for 19 years before moving with the government. Happy 75th birthday, I have learned more about our great state by reading the articles in your magazine. Keep up the good work.

There is no other state that has so much to offer. It has its beauty everywhere you look, from the Great Smokey Mountains to the lovely Piedmont to the glorious beaches. And you can’t forget gracious hometown folks! That’s why I love N.C.! Happy birthday wishes to Our State.
-Cheryl Fowler in Tabor City
I have always loved Our State magazine and its awesome details of the great things we have right here at home. You don't have to leave NC to see beauty or have fun as we have the best of both worlds with the mountains, Piedmont, and the ocean. The greatest thing Our State has done for me is bring great joy to my 71 year old mother who is not in good health and not able to get out. She gets so excited every month now that I ordered her the magazine. Our State magazine has no idea how much fun, excitement and joy this magazine brings to her each month. She learned about the train ride in the mountains from an article. Last year, we took her to the mountains and we rode the train all afternoon. It was awesome to see her face as we passed the rippling water, waved at the canoers, had help at the handicap area. She absolutely loved it and Our State's article made that possible. Hats off to the best magazine around!

Happy 75th Birthday. I remember when it was The State magazine. It has been a pleasure to get and read for many years. I am still discovering things and places about North Carolina and I have lived here all my life. Thanks for a great magazine!

I thoroughly enjoy reading Our State magazine and can't wait for each issue to arrive in my mailbox. It is one magazine that I can honestly say I read from cover to cover. Tar Heel towns, history and people are some of my favorite articles as well as the Tar Heel Literature section and the recipes included with each issue. You do a fantastic job of representing the best of North Carolina. Keep up the good work and Happy 75th Birthday Our State Magazine!

Happy 75th Birthday. I love reading about my home state, where I've lived all my life. I have learned a lot about it from your wonderful magazine. I even took another trip to Clinton (my sister lives there) just to visit the museum you featured in your June issue. It was well worth the trip. I plan to return again on a cooler day.Keep up the good work. I enjoy reading about places I haven’t seen yet. Would love to see an article on Goldsboro & Bentonville. Thanks & Happy Birthday to you-may you have at least 75 more.
-Virginia Parrish in Goldsboro, NC
I like the articles on the small towns and their origins and the articles on the little known, out of the way eating places to travel to.

I remember reading "The State" magazine as a lad at West Lenoir Elementary School fifty years ago. I still feel a lift when I get my monthly copy of Our State in the mail. I especially enjoy the beautiful photography, the book reviews, and the profiles of the towns and cities. I save past issues for reference when planning trips. Thanks for remaining a constant friend for so many years.

Happy Birthday! My favorite memory is of finding you for the first time. While visiting my best friends in Jupiter, FL, my bedtime ritual became “finding something to read.” I assumed all they had were retirement and golf magazines. I found Our State and was forever grateful. Upon returning home to Otto NC, I sent off for my own subscription. I found Our State in Jupiter! What a grand souvenir!
-Kathlyn Wall in Otto, NC
I am so proud of Our State magazine and wish it 75 more wonderful years. The quality of this publication is extraordinary. Many of the stories bring back childhood memories of much simpler times, but what I am most grateful for is that when I think about visiting another state. I read one of your stories and I decide “Why should I go somewhere else? I have the most exciting places in the world to visit right here in North Carolina.” Thank you for that!
-Ben Croom Wilmington, NC
Happy 75th to Our State! This is also a monumental anniversary for me, as this year marks my 40th year of being a Charlotte resident. My husband and I love to "visit" all the interesting sites that Our State takes us to each month. We are now "empty-nesters" and have more time to travel and enjoy our great state. Thank you for a wonderful magazine!
-Donna Taylor in Charlotte, NC
Congratulations! Four months after my birth in Selma, North Carolina, The State magazine was born. The State was a part of our home for as long as I remember. My dad, Roy Driver, read it from cover to cover, and the rest of the family learned to do the same thing. Of course, it was all black and white and much smaller back then. Daddy used to keep copies and often quoted Carl Goerch. Keep up the good work - it thrills me to read about North Carolina, My heart will always be there and I still call North Carolina “home.” Thanks for the memories!!
-Betty Beacham in Deerfield Beach, FL
Congratulations on 75 years. Your magazine is the most interesting I have ever read. I love all the stories of the wonderful people and places in North Carolina. I was especially thrilled with the article you did on Lake Junaluska a few years ago. May God bless you with many more years of Our State magazine.
-Phyllis Capponi in Lake Junaluska, NC
It is hard to single out the one thing that I like the most. Everything that you have in the magazine is wonderful. I guess if I have to pick one thing it would be the pictures. I love to paint and get a lot of inspiration from them.
