VIDEO: Cooking with Arlene & Oliver

Put a twist on the classic PB&J for a tasty lunch.

Our State Magazine

Arlene and her friend Oliver are going to show you how to cook a delicious fried peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich. It’s a really easy recipe, but be sure to have an adult assist you with the hot surface. Oliver says the sandwich goes well with a tall glass of milk. Click below to see the video. Enjoy!

Grilled Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich

Serves 1

  • 2 slices sandwich bread (or cinnamon raisin bread)
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry jam
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

Place the bread slices on a work surface and spread the peanut butter on 1 slice of bread. Spread the jam on top of the peanut butter; set aside.

Melt the butter in a large frying pan or on a table top griddle set to medium heat. Add the 2 slices of bread, filling side up and cook until the bottoms are golden brown and the filling is warmed through – about 6 minutes.

Using a flat spatula, flip 1 slice of bread on the other to close the sandwich. Transfer to a plate and serve immediately.
