Digital Content Editor

North Carolina’s premier media company, Our State, is seeking a Digital Content Editor, to work out of our office, located in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Digital Content Editor will manage and edit content for websites and other online properties, including landing pages, microsites, and apps and their related social media platforms. The Digital Content Editor will also create content calendars and manage content programs for clients and will be responsible for assisting the team in championing the voice of the advertiser and communicating the Our State brand. The ideal candidate understands how to use content and social media to tell stories and create rich social engagement experiences. You will work directly with the Digital Media Manager, Digital Content Writer, and related teams.

Position Duties:

  • Be a constant source of creativity, initiate, and lead digital projects
  • Achieve continuity of editorial and design styles across all platforms
  • Manage and edit all digital newsletters, contests, promotions, and paid content by selecting features, working with HTML templates, testing, deployment, and monitoring results
  • Determine opportunities to reach new digital audiences and new platforms in a shifting digital landscape
  • Anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet tight deadlines with little supervision
  • Manage freelancers, including assigning and editing
  • Assign, edit, and craft copy for a wide-range of content projects

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of editing and writing experience in a digital marketing or agency environment
  • Proven experience and proficiency working in content management systems on a variety of platforms, including WordPress CMS and MailChimp
  • Proficiency with writing standards-based HTML, CSS
  • Outstanding editorial skills; the ideal candidate will have experience editing content for scope, flow, style, and adherence to quality standards

Web and Social Media Producer

The Web and Social Media Producer will also strategically plan and monitor all social media posts, channels, and analytics. Position Duties:

  • Create the layout for search and landing pages
  • Update e-commerce platforms and apps
  • Manage and perform content updates, in addition to ongoing optimization and web maintenance
  • Keep web content updated, dynamic, and user-friendly and ensure content and design updates adhere to web standards and brand guidelines
  • Perform quality assurance testing to validate content updates render effectively across browsers, platforms, and devices prior to deployment
  • Work and strategize with internal teams to improve and maintain the effectiveness of the overall web and user experience
  • Track performance of all social output to ensure both social engagement and business objectives are met
  • Execute and manage paid social media buys
  • Develop client facing monthly reports and internal metrics reporting

Account Associate

Digital Internships

Our State Digital is continually seeking interns to support the Web team. Two tracks are available for interns, including writing and researching or design and development. In both programs, the goal is to create compelling and shareable stories for a digital audience. The digital internship is part-time, unpaid, and interns must be eligible to receive school credit.

Interns will be working directly for ourstate.com and other associated properties. Writing and researching candidates should have some experience with online publishing, WordPress, HTML, and Adobe Photoshop. Design and development candidates should have some experience with the Adobe Create Suite, WordPress, and HTML, CSS, and javascript.

We prefer students who are pursuing a degree in journalism, English, communication studies, interactive design, or website development. Experience working on the digital side of a student or local publication is a plus. Candidates must be able to work in our office in Greensboro.

Editorial Internships

Our State offers internships during fall, spring, and summer semesters.

Internships positions are for 10 hours a week, unpaid, and offer opportunity for experience in several areas: research, proofing, writing, and editing. Interns also help with fact-checking, indexing, assembling copy for our website, and other general duties. Our State interns work closely with the editorial team and have the opportunity to produce portfolio-worthy clips.

We prefer students who are pursuing a degree in journalism or English. Experience working on a student or local publication is a huge plus.
