Walk or drive through downtown McAdenville to admire streets lined with thousands of festive lights. Known as Christmas Town USA, this Gaston County mill village began the tradition in 1956 when the local Men’s Club strung lights on Christmas trees around the community center. Now, the town hosts an annual lighting ceremony in which a local first grader is selected to flip the switch on the lights.
