Wallace: Carolina Strawberry Festival

What: Enjoy food and craft vendors, rides, performances by beach music bands, and plenty of berries at this festival.

Kannapolis: Jiggy with the Piggy

What: Get down with the pig — that is, eat a whole bunch of barbecue. The weekend will include live music, an outdoor movie night, an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, rides, and a delicious competition.

Smithfield: Ham & Yam Festival

What: This festival features two quintessential Southern foods: country ham and sweet potatoes. Food vendors are required to feature one of the two on their menus, meaning that there are plenty of country ham biscuits and sweet potato funnel cakes to go around.

Wake Forest: Meet in the Street

What: Chow down on offerings from dozens of food trucks and enjoy music and fun at this festival. Oh, and keep an eye out for Our State — we’ll be there, too!

Raleigh: NC’s Newest Hall of Famers

What: The North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame will announce its 2019 induction class — which includes NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. and NCAA women’s basketball official Dee Kantner.

Hudson: NC Butterfly Festival

What: You’ll float like a butterfly at this spring festival. Run a 5K, enter your toddler into the “caterpillar crawl,” browse for items from arts and crafts vendors, listen to live music, and sip a frosty beverage in the beer garden.
