Grifton: Shad Festival

What: The oldest festival in Pitt County welcomes spring with shad! Spend a day fish throwing, savoring a bowl of fish stew, or watching the parade.

Durham: Pints for Paws Festival

What: A day filled with craft beer, food trucks, doggie wading pools, and live blues music from The Rusted Rails. Oh, and if Fido needs a friend, you can also meet adoptable dogs from the Animal Protection Society.

Mount Olive: North Carolina Pickle Festival

What: An eclectic festival for all things pickle.

Greenville: PirateFest

What: 100 pirates take over the Town Common to reenact what life might have been like for the many pirates, including Blackbeard, who landed on North Carolina’s shores in the 1700s.
