Blue Ridge Artisans Show and Sale — Closing Weekend • Marion • December 23-24
Need to do some last-minute holiday shopping? Check out the Blue Ridge Artisans Show and Sale, which expands the McDowell Arts Council Association’s gift shop into the gallery throughout December. This free event will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, and features the work of McDowell County artisans exhibiting pottery, woodworking, basketry, jewelry, textile arts, and other fine crafts.

The Nutcracker • Raleigh • December 23-24

Charlotte Christmas Village — Closing Weekend • Charlotte • December 23-24
Uptown’s Romare Bearden Park is transformed into a quaint, European-inspired Christmas Market featuring heirloom-quality Christmas ornaments from Europe and gifts from Ecuador, Turkey, and Nepal. The aromas of specialty foods will drift across the village, and visitors can enjoy hot non-alcoholic beverages and cold beer. There will also be a wide assortment of traditional Christmas sweets to take home, such as lebkuchen (gingerbread), stollen, cookies, and marzipan.

Holiday Train Expo 2016 • Wilmington • December 23-25
