Monday, July 20 – London, England – Tour Begins

Your tour opens in London, the cosmopolitan and historic capital of England where you wil meet your tour director. This evening, join your fellow travelers for an ale and pie tasting at a traditional English pub. (Welcome Dinner)

Tuesday, July 21 – London

London’s quintessential sights await you this morning. Alongside a local guide, view the Tower of London, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. This afternoon, enjoy a classic British pastime with a full English tea. Afterwards you will have some time at leisure to explore this iconic city on your own. (B, Afternoon Tea)

Wednesday, July 22 – London

Today our group is in for a treat, as we will board our motor coach for Highclere Castle- scene of Downton Abbey! We will tour the grounds as well as the inside with an expert guide, learning of the castles storied past as well as its role today. Enjoy full access to the castle interior and the sprawling castle grounds. With free time for lunch, our group will return to London by evening to enjoy on our own. (B)

Thursday, July 23 – London – York

It’s time to say farewell to London and travel to the medieval city of York. Arrive in York by way of high speed rail; climb aboard at London’s King’s Cross and sit back and relax as you travel 125mph through England’s stunning countryside; arriving in York just over two hours later, meet up with a local expert at York Station and embark on a walking tour of this remarkable city where you’ll tour it’s famous Cathedral and walk the labyrinth of quaint narrow streets that still appear as they did in the Middle Ages. Tonight, stay within the city’s historic walls. (B)

Friday, July 24 – Lake District, England – Ruthin Castle, Wales

Today you will continue on from York by traveling through the picturesque Lake District. Here in the district’s heart, visit the charming village of Grasmere, home of the poet William Wordsworth. Then, visit the home of Beatrix Potter, the author and illustrator famous for her beloved children’s books. End your day with an overnight stay in beautiful Ruthin Castle, situated in the north of Wales. (B, D)

Saturday, July 25 – Wales – Stratford-upon-Avon, England

Step back in time to the birthplace of the bard, William Shakespeare, on a journey to Stratford-upon-Avon – your home for the next two nights. Here you will tour Anne Hathaway’s thatch-roofed cottage, the childhood home of Shakespeare’s wife. Also this afternoon, enjoy a leisurely cruise along the picturesque Avon River. (B)

Sunday, July 26 – Stratford – Stonehenge – Cotswolds – Stratford

Complete your visit to Britain with a journey to mystical Stonehenge – an incredible entrée to some of England’s most gorgeous countryside. Explore the arrestingly beautiful villages of the Cotswolds region. Tonight, join your fellow travelers for a private farewell dinner at Hall’s Croft, a 400-year-old Shakespeare family home. Toast the end of a wonderful journey while actors in traditional costume perform some of Shakespeare’s most renowned scenes. (B, D)
