About Chef Alyssa Wilen:

Chef Alyssa Wilen has been cooking her entire life. Her passion for making good food was equally matched by a desire to lead a balanced, active lifestyle. She has worked at some of Charlotte’s favorite restaurants and became an executive chef at just 26 years old. Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen opened its doors in 2013 with the goal of providing a comfortable, social environment where guests can learn to cook and eat well. The company grew so much that Wilen and her husband, Andrew, built a custom-designed, state-of-the-art kitchen in Bowers, located in Charlotte’s historic Lower South End neighborhood. In 2016, she launched Chef Alyssa’s Spreads, her own product line of condiments.

For Wilen, cooking has been a culmination of her love of art and fine food. In short time, she found her love and passion for cooking and focused her career path on this model.

A 2005 graduate of the Art Institute of Charlotte, Wilen started and ran her own catering company while in school. Her professional career has taken her to Italy and several restaurants in Charlotte, ranging from upscale restaurants; a country club; and smaller, intimate dining establishments.

Wilen has been recognized in multiple local, regional, and national magazines. She has won numerous awards and has been recognized by multiple outlets for her expertise. Aside from being named one of Charlotte’s Top 5 Chefs by CBS Charlotte, Wilen has also appeared on Beat Bobby Flay on The Food Network. She’s had the privilege of cooking on two separate occasions at the prestigious James Beard House in New York City.

She is passionate about using local, fresh ingredients and adding layers of flavor. Wilen loves adding her personality, passion, and creative sense into all her menu items.
