The fourth annual Pinehurst Barbecue Festival has quickly become one of North Carolina’s top culinary experiences. The Celebration of Taste and Tradition in the iconic village of Pinehurst is staged over Labor Day weekend and features some of the state’s top pitmasters. Unlike other barbecue festivals, the Pinehurst Barbecue Festival is unique, giving patrons an opportunity to sample seven different meats ranging from brisket to ribs to turkey, and seven different Southern-style sides. The festival also features barbecue sauce and rub samplings from more than 50 vendors, along with a Got to Be NC section featuring various North Carolina products. Local craft beers along with Cape Fear Distillery spirits and wine from the Surry County Wine Trail are the featured libations. Early bird tickets to the September 1, 2024, Pitmaster Invitational are available for those who want to get a jump start on the sampling.
