Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning, followed by a safari briefing given by our tour director. Next, visit the museum and former home of Dutch author Karen Blixen, which was made famous by the film adaptation of her 1937 memoir Out of Africa. From there, travel to the Giraffe Centre, located on the 1932 estate of coffee king David Duncan, to hand-feed the nearly extinct Rothschild giraffe from an elevated platform.
This afternoon, enjoy lunch at the world-famous Carnivore Restaurant, where you’ll have the opportunity to sample an array of game and domestic meats. After lunch, head south to Amboseli National Park, arriving in time for dinner at the lodge, surrounded by miles of rolling grasslands.

Amboseli National Park is home to the legendary Maasai tribesmen and is famous for its elephant population, numbering more than one thousand strong and growing. This morning, wake to spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, which dominates the horizon above flat-topped Ololokwe Mountain. Along with the large herds of buffalo and elephants, you might spot leopards resting on high tree limbs, while below, zebras and ostriches wander amid enormous red termite mounds rising from the hot-red soil.

After breakfast, fly from Amboseli to Nairobi, then travel to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. This nature preserve is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa and is home to two of the world’s last remaining northern white rhinos. Enjoy a game drive and see the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, established by the Kenya Wildlife Service and the Jane Goodall Institute to provide a lifelong refuge to orphaned and abused chimpanzees from West and Central Africa. Enjoy the views and amenities of your lodge before dinner.

This morning, depart from the lodge to stop at the equator for a brief presentation before traveling to the Samburu National Reserve for an afternoon game drive. Here you will find the long-necked gerenuk (also known as the giraffe gazelle), reticulated giraffe, gray zebra, oryx (a type of antelope), and dik-dik (a tiny genus of antelope). The reserve also boasts a fantastic variety of birds, especially along the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River.
