The city’s Spanish roots and multicultural heritage are woven into its plazas, missions, and neighborhoods, but nowhere is its spirit more present than along the Riverwalk. Here, the San Antonio River curves beneath cypress trees and stone bridges, past cafés and galleries that glow in the evening light. Tonight, gather with your fellow Our State travelers for a wine and beer reception followed by a welcome dinner.

Day 2: San Jose Mission • The Alamo • Riverwalk cruise
Friday, December 4, 2026

After breakfast, set out on a guided tour of San Antonio. Visit San Jose Mission — often called the “Queen of the Missions” — beautifully restored in the 1930s by the Works Progress Administration. This afternoon, view the IMAX presentation The Price of Freedom, recounting the 1836 Battle of the Alamo. Then step into the Alamo itself, where the chapel stands as one of the most recognized landmarks in the country. Later, enjoy a leisurely Riverwalk cruise, drifting beneath bridges and balconies while learning more about the city’s past and present. The evening is yours to explore and dine at your own pace.

Overnight: Holiday Inn San Antonio-Riverwalk, Drury Plaza Hotel San Antonio Riverwalk, or The Westin Riverwalk in San Antonio

Day 3: Austin • LBJ Library and Museum
Saturday, December 5, 2026

Travel north through the rolling hills of Central Texas to Austin, the state capital. On a guided city tour, see the Texas State Capitol, whose pink granite dome rises prominently above downtown. Visit the LBJ Library and Museum on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin, where exhibits chronicle the life and legacy of President Lyndon B. Johnson. Return to San Antonio for an evening at leisure.

Overnight: Holiday Inn San Antonio-Riverwalk, Drury Plaza Hotel San Antonio Riverwalk, or The Westin Riverwalk in San Antonio

Day 4: Hill Country • Fredericksburg • Fiesta de las Luminarias
Sunday, December 6, 2026

Today we journey into the Texas Hill Country, where limestone outcroppings and live oaks frame the road. Stop in Fredericksburg, founded by German immigrants in 1846 and still marked by its European heritage. Visit the National Museum of the Pacific War, dedicated to the men and women who served under Admiral Chester Nimitz in the Pacific during World War II. Afterward, enjoy time on your own to browse local shops or find lunch at one of the town’s cafés. Later, gather for a wine tasting at a local Hill Country winery. With more than 100 wineries in the region, winemaking here continues a tradition that began nearly two centuries ago. This evening, return to San Antonio for a farewell dinner at a popular local restaurant. Afterward, stroll the Riverwalk to experience the Fiesta de las Luminarias, when thousands of candles line the pathways, casting a soft glow along the water — a tradition that turns an evening walk into something quietly unforgettable.
