Basic Barbecue Dipping Sauce

Basic Barbecue Dipping Sauce

Makes 2 cups of sauce.

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • ½ cup tomato puree
  • ½ cup tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • ⅓ cup sliced onions
  • ¼ teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 2 teaspoons light brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 ounces water

Combine all ingredients in a 2-quart saucepan. Bring to a boil. Turn heat down, and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove pan from heat. Strain out the onions, then let cool to room temperature. Refrigerate until ready to use.
