Joe Newberry has been playing banjo since his childhood in Missouri, but his career blossomed in North Carolina as both an award-winning bluegrass songwriter and a semi-regular performer on Garrison Keillor’s “A Prarie Home Companion.” We were honored to have Joe perform in the Our State library. Enjoy his moving performance below.

Our Music in the Library series is bringing some of North Carolina’s best musicians into our offices, instruments in hand, to perform a song or two just for us. We’re filming these live performances and showcasing them on our website. See the performances at music.ourstate.com.
