Original Glazed Apple Cobbler

Yield: 6 servings.

4 large eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon nutmeg
1⅓ cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
4 Krispy Kreme Original Glazed® doughnuts, cut in half
2 cups Granny Smith apples, peeled and chopped
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Ice cream (optional)

Preheat oven to 350° and grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish or 12-inch cast-iron skillet. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and then add granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well. In a separate bowl, combine flour and baking powder. Add dry ingredients to egg mixture to form a batter.

Place halved doughnuts in the prepared baking dish or skillet and pour batter evenly over doughnuts. Distribute apples and nuts on top and spread evenly. Cover the dish or skillet with foil and bake for 35 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, until browned. Serve warm and with ice cream if desired (do it!). Refrigerate any leftovers.
