With summer quickly approaching, I’ve been overflowing with excitement as I await the promise of warm-weather cocktails. One of my all-time favorites is this classic hurricane cocktail.

I used to live in a tiny cottage in what is called “The Promise Land” of Morehead City, which is within walking distance to the shore of Bogue Sound. If I turned my rocking chair in just the right direction, I could see the shore from my little front porch. On many Saturdays in the summer, I enjoyed one of these cocktails in my chair with my dog Chance by my side. Those memories of peaceful days spent enjoying what our beautiful state has to offer will always remain in my heart.

Since I frequently blog about cocktails, my friends always knew where to come if they wanted to enjoy a cocktail, laughter, and an awesome view all at the same time. To me, being a Southerner means to always have an open door to enjoy good times, food, and drinks with friends and family.

I hope you’ll enjoy making my hurricane cocktail recipe. May it provide you with as many lifelong memories as it has for me.
