Live at Our State: Mipso

When Jacob, Joseph, and Wood first played music together in 2010, they didn’t intend to start a band.

“We just thought it would be fun to play a few songs for this fundraiser in Chapel Hill,” said Jacob, the mandolin player, during their recent visit to the Our State office. “But since then we’ve played 160 or 170 shows.”

Mipso has experienced some success in a short time. Their first album, Long, Long Gone, received great reviews and put them in a position to share the stage with artists such as David Holt and the Steep Canyon Rangers.

“It’s kind of like pushing a snowball down a hill,” added Wood, leaning on his stand up bass.
